Maharashtra Bird Flu scare: 381 birds found dead, samples being tested

Mumbai: Maharashtra reported deaths of 381 birds on Sunday amid the avian influenza scare, a state authorities official mentioned on Monday. He mentioned 380 of those have been poultry birds, together with 190 from Nandurbar and 115 from Amravati in Vidarbha.

Samples are being despatched to Nationwide Institute of Excessive Safety Animal Illnesses (NIHSAD) in Bhopal and Illness Investigation Part, Pune for fowl flu testing, he added.

To date, 7,20,515 poultrybirds, together with 5,86,668 from Navapur in Nandurbar, have been culled, and 26,44,177 eggs in addition to 73,004 kilograms of poultry feed destroyed in contaminated zones, and carcasses have been being buried in lime lined pits to forestall the unfold of an infection, a state authorities launch knowledgeable.

The state authorities has paid compensation of Rs 3.38 crore to affected poultry farmers within the contaminated zone, it added.
